Job Description
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer for our Chicago Office. You would work with our team to run the day-to-day operations of our trading system. The expectation is that you would develop tools and processes responsible for improving, building, deploying, managing and monitoring a 23/6 high-frequency trading system.

The schedule for this role is from 1pm to 10pm Sunday through Thursday.

Responsibilities of this Role:

  • Provide real-time support, working with traders and other developers to diagnose and solve technical issues
  • Develop monitoring systems, tools, and processes to improve our system
  • Formulate procedures to increase system stability and uptime
  • Coordinate with developers and trading teams to deliver defect fixes
  • Work with developers and trading teams to develop and deploy new features

Things We’re Looking for from Our Candidates:

  • Good troubleshooting skills and the ability to find the root cause of an issue
  • Interest in understanding how and why things work, and how to make them better
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Python programming experience
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems
  • Helpful skills: Ansible , C++, webapp development (javascript, Django, etc), database NoSQL (redis), database SQL (postgres), familiarity with derivatives markets, professional software development experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and within a team
  • Detail oriented
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Flexible schedule
Sample DevOps Projects
  • Monitoring – create python modules that periodically assert a condition on the system and notify the heads-up display. Examples include disk usage, FIX heartbeats and rejects, log scrapers.
  • Venue Reference data – loading data from a trading venue (such as the CME), translating into internal format, and correctly updating a database.
  • System Services – write Ansible playbooks to automate processes such as allowing for the sequentially controlled restart of a multiple component software stack.
